Our Vision

OIF/OEF is unlike any other organization in the field of veteran service. It is an innovative program for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that acts as a voice for the 30,000 returned veterans and the influx of additional veterans as the conflicts continue. Our nation's heroes are returning home with new injuries and problems that need to be addressed immediately. We maintain the sharing of information between OIF and OEF veteran programs, communities, and officials that want to work toward a common goal set forth by OIF/OEF.
  Program One: Advocacy

OIF/OEF will aggressively advocate the Commonwealth's legislature, congressional delegation, executive offices, and other relevant departments and agencies. The advocacy effort will seek to improve veterans' educational benefits and health care, increase job opportunities, make home and business loans more accessible to veterans, and improve the general welfare of veterans when they return home. This will be accomplished by cultivating relationships with the political and bureaucratic offices in order to pass initiatives necessary to make the improvements needed to help the returning veterans.

  Program Two: Education

If you were to poll most Americans on the important issues facing our nation today, taxes, jobs, credit, budgets, and health care would probably come ahead of Iraq and Afghanistan. OIF/OEF Veterans of Massachusetts want to educate the people of Massachusetts that there are still real costs in the two wars we are currently fighting. We intend to develop an educational program for everyone to learn more about Iraq and Afghanistan and the real-life costs associated with them.

Program Three: Liaisons to the Veteran Community

Veteran benefits are complicated. The process of having to deal with the US Department of Veteran Affairs, Massachusetts Department of Veteran Services, other governmental agencies, and private organizations overwhelms many veterans. OIF/OEF is a source of information and advice for returning veterans—we help veterans understand what rights they have and what benefits are available to them.

  About Us

OIF/OEF Veterans of Massachusetts is a joint venture founded by Dominick King and Kenneth Isaksen. Dominick and Kenneth are Marine Corps veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan and have both felt the physical and mental stress that comes with the transition from active duty to civilian life. The OIF/OEF office is located in the Massachusetts State House.

Dominick King, of Worcester, enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve on September 7 2001. While in the reserve, Dominick deployed to Kuwait and was in the invasion of Iraq in 2003 with the 6th MTBN of Providence, RI. In August of 2004, Dominick redeployed with the 7th Marines to the Al-Anbar Province. During the second participated in the Nov. 2004 Operation  "Phantom Furry" aka The Battle of Fallujah. It was during this time that Dominick ruptured a disc in his back and was medically discharged after returning home.

Kenneth Isaksen, of Canton, enlisted in the Marine Corps in March of 2003. While in the Marines, Kenneth served with 2nd Battalion 8th Marines as an Infantry assaultman. Kenneth was deployed to Afghanistan in November of 2003. In March of 2005, Kenneth deployed with the 26 MEU part of the MSPF Platoon in support of Marine Force Recon and all Operations in the Middle East. Kenneth was honorably discharged in March of 2007 and currently lives with his wife in South Boston.
